An English silver open faced key wind chronometer pocket watch made by John Arnold in London, circa 1780. The gilt full plate movement with an Arnold spring detent escapement, cut and compensated bimetallic oversized OZ balance, helical balance spring and diamond end stone. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and gilt spade hands. A later engine turned hinged case, Chester hallmarked for 1899, with a blank cartouche on the back. Dial and movement signed and numbered, case stamped I.H. Comes with a fitted wooden box.
