A fine and very elegant, thin Swiss 18 carat gold open faced keyless pocket watch
made for Cartier in Paris, France and presented by Condé Nast, circa 1920. The rhodium plated movement by the European Watch & Clock Co. Inc. features Geneva striping decoration, 19 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with eight adjustments, blued steel flat balance spring and an index regulator. Reprinted engine turned silver dial with bold black Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, inner 24 hours and original blued steel spade hands. The case with a wide bezel, coin edged band, a polished back with the white champlevé enamel initials RW and a fluted pendant, the interior of the back is engraved Richardson Wright from Condé Nast 1914- 1924. Dial signed Cartier, movement signed European Watch & Clock Co. Inc., case numbered and punched EJ in a lozenge for Edmond Jaeger.
