This timepiece is the work of Adolf Schneider’s watch factory from the 1850s, which was only switched on by the son and main heir, Heinrich Woldemar Schneider, in the late 1880s.
–
Heinrich Woldemar’s financial situation was precarious as a result of the payment of his four siblings, who also had an equal claim to the inheritance. He was unable to meet his financial obligations, which led to bankruptcy proceedings in 1893.
