Miniature lépine with key and signet
–
A gold and enamel miniature lépine with key and signet in original Mellerio in Paris box made by Eugène Bornand in St Croix, France, circa 1850. The numbered open faced lépine case of this watch is crafted from 18 Carat gold and has green, engine turned enamel on the back lid which is set with rose cut diamonds. The, possibly later, screwed white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals and fine Breguet hands. The movement has a cylinder escapement and the watch comes in the original sales box of the Parisian jeweller Mellerio dits Meller with a gold signet and gold key, which are both also green enamelled and professionally restored.
Cuvette, movement and box signed.
