Gold pair cased half-quarter repeating cylinder pocket watch

An English half-quarter repeating cylinder in gold pair cases, circa 1788. Full plate fire gilt movement with dust cover pierced to reveal the diamond endstone and regulator pierced and engraved cock, radial design, large diamond endstone on a blue steel setting. Silver regulator disc on an engraved gilt plate. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel set-up between the plates, plain three-arm steel balance, blue steel spiral hairspring. Polished steel cylinder, large brass escape wheel, pivots with endstones. Push pendant half quarter repeating on a bell in the case. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, fine gold arrow hands. Cases decoratively engraved and pierced to allow the bell to sound clearly. Gold push pendant and bow. Gold outer case with a cartouche engraved with a small monogram and family crest. Sprung bezel opened by pressing a pin recessed in the edge, maker’s mark IR.
