Gold and enamel full hunter by Auguste Courvoisier & Co
–
A magnificent Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel hunting cased pocket watch made for the Ottoman market, circa 1830. Bridge movement with early lever escapement and shock absorber, temperature compensation. Exceptional enamel dial with Ottoman numerals green enamelled with golden surrounding, a central enamel painted floral scene and floral decorated gold hands. The case is polychrome enamelled on both sides, the front with a mosque scene, in the background the sunrise and in the foreground, a river landscape surrounded by a white enamel rim with engine-turned red flames, the latter surrounded by green enamel, a very intricate enamelling technique is used, each flame set in gold, a bouquet of flowers on the back, the rim of the case, pendant and bow also enamelled on both sides, in the pendant a split pusher to open both spring lids, the dome splendidly florally engraved.
