An important and probably unique Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased minute repeating Art Nouveau chronograph precision watch, Africa, circa 1908.  Exquisite precision lever movement, repeating the minutes, chronograph. Cuvette inscribed Répétition à minutes & chronographe Grand Prix Milan 1906 International Watch Co médialle dór No 36489 25 Rubies. White enamel dial with Roman hours and Arabic five minutes, 1/5 seconds, subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands. Repoussé case depicting a lion, the back with formerly etched Art Nouveau monogram (now only very slightly visible, probably HN). Case numbered, dial signed, movement signed and numbered, case and movement with matching numbers. Comes with a, probably, original but not signed presentation box.

International Wach Co minute repeating pocket watches are especially rare but with a relief case of this quality an absolute rarity. The watch probably comes from a very small series with relief cases and was very likely made for a World Exhibition.
