A very fine and especially large Swiss gold, enamel and diamond-set beetle-form pendant watch, circa 1870. Miniature movement with cylinder escapement and crown winding. White enamel dial with Roman hours and gold outer minute dots, blued steel hands. Case in the shape of a beetle, the wings with blue engine-turned enamel set with rose-cut diamonds, the head black enamelled and also set with rose-cut diamonds, the eyes set with rubies, the bottom of the body very detailed and lifelike designed with three pairs of hairy legs, the crown with a pusher for opening the wings.
