A very rare and small French torpedo boat marine chronometer, deck chronometer of the Service Hydrographique de la Marine, circa 1890. Very high quality gilt chronometer movement, spring detent chronometer, helical hairspring, probably made of palladium, diamond endstone, special chronometer balance, chain and fusee. Dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, 36-hour power reserve indicator. Three-part mahogany box, the inside with original label, screwed brass case. Case numbered, dial and movement signed and numbered, case, dial and movement with matching numbers.
