A small and rare deck chronometer made for the French Navy, circa 1880-1890. Spring detent chronometer movement, gold spring, helical hairspring, Guillaume balance. Silvered dial with Roman hours and outer minute divisions, 49-hour power reserve indicator, solid gold hands. Three-part mahogany box, brass case, gimbal suspension. Case numbered, dial and movement signed and numbered, case and movement with matching numbers. Comes with the original box and key, the box contains an interesting document: a service receipt from 1949 at the company Pain in La Rochelle.
