An American varicoloured gold and diamond set hunting cased keyless lever watch of equestrian theme circa 1910. P.S. Bartlett model 1908. This watch features a 16 size movement with beautifully damascened nickel bridges, a lever escapement, 17 jewels, and a bimetallic compensation balance for precision regulation. It is classified as grade PSB and is signed and numbered by P.S. Bartlett in Waltham, 18109735.  The white enamel dial displays black Roman numerals, an outer red five minute indication, subsidiary seconds, and signed Waltham.

The watch is housed in a 14 carat varicoloured gold hunting case. One side of the case is adorned with a diamond set horseshoe surrounding a horse’s head, while the opposite side features a vacant cartouche surrounded by varicoloured gold flowers and leaves, framed by a horseshoe design. The scalloped band is signed by BWCo., and both the case and cuvette are numbered 6280452.

The movement is running smoothly. The case is in good condition with a few minor dents, primarily on the horseshoe. The crystal has a crack, while the dial is in good condition with some residue present throughout.

The P.S. Bartlett models are named after a former employee of Waltham.
Patten Sargeant Bartlett worked at the Boston Watch Company, a precursor to the Waltham Watch Company, from 1854 to 1864. After a brief period at the Elgin National Watch Company in Chicago, he returned to Massachusetts to work as a watchmaker for Waltham from 1878 to 1881.
