Marine chronometer from WWII Hamilton Model 22

An American marine chronometer from WWII made by Hamilton in Lancaster, Pennsylvania United States of America, circa 1943. This Hamilton model 22 has an open faced case with a company plate, glazed lid, a gimbal suspension and is screwed. The original silvered dial has Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock also with Arabis numerals, a power reserve indicator at twelve o’clock and blued steel hands. The numbered movement has a chronometer escapement with 21 jewels, is adjusted to temperature, has six positions and is marked “US Navy-BU Ships 1942”.

The dial and movement are signed.
