Yellow gold gentlemen’s watch
–
A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced manual wind pocket watch, circa 1900. It features a mechanical lever movement. The white enamel dial has black Roman hours, outer gold dot minute divisions, outermost Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and Louis XV hands. The round case has a smooth bezel, oval bow and fluted crown. The back is intricately engraved with foliage around a central, vacant cartouche and includes a gold cuvette. The case is numbered and bears French gold hallmarks: the master’s mark C with a five pointed star, an I, and the horsehead hallmark as used from circa 1838 to 1919.
