A fine and rare English 22 carat gold pair cased quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1795-1796. Hinged gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, a verge escapement, plain brass three armed balance, flat balance spring and gilt brass English cock with ruby endstone, repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Gilt brass dust cap. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, an outer Arabic five minute track and original blued steel moon hands. A polished outer case, the inner case with pierced and engraved band with foliage decoration. Dial, back plate and dust cap signed, case with the master mark for Samuel Stephens and London hallmarks for 1795-1796.
