Unusual gold open faced quarter repeater by Ducommun

A fine, unusual Swiss 18 carat gold open faced quarter repeating verge pocket watch with three automaton Jacquemarts, circa 1815. Gilt brass, full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three armed balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end piece, silver regulation dial, repeating on two gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Spring loaded gilt cuvette hinged to the movement ring. Small white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, chased gold Jacquemarts in Roman costume on each side of the dial appearing to strike the hours and quarter hours on two bells, a small gold appliqué below the dial of a putto with love trophies striking a further bell, royal blue enamel ground and original steel Breguet hands. Plain case, mastermark HC, polished reeded band.
