Rose gold repeating ruby cylinder watch by Mathieu

A very fine and rare French 18 carat rose gold open faced quarter repeating ruby cylinder pocket watch, circa 1830. Frosted gilt movement, jewelled to the third wheel, English type ruby cylinder escapement with steel escape wheel, plain three armed balance with parachute on the upper pivot, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with bimetallic temperature compensation curb, repeating on gongs activated by a pull-and-twist button in the pendant. Gold hinged cuvette, the border engraved Lenoir. Silver dial, engine turned, with Roman numerals on a brushed reserve, outer minute divisions and original gold Breguet hands. Case engine turned grains d’orge. Dial and cuvette signed, reverse of the dial punched ADLG.
