Gold open faced quarter repeater by Antoine Du Pont

A fine and rare Swiss multi-coloured gold open faced quarter repeating verge pocket watch, circa 1780. Matte gilt full plate movement, tapered cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three armed balance with flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell activated by depressing the pendant. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic fifteen minute numerals, secured by a screw and original silver and paste set pierced hands. Louis XVI case, the back decorated with a multi-coloured gold scene of two doves on the altar in the temple of love, outer border decorated with a repeat laurel leaf pattern, bezel decorated to match.
