A very fine and rare Swiss 18 carat rose gold and enamel open faced keyless lever pendant watch made for the Grand Tir (shooting) prize at the Exposition Nationale, Geneva, 1896. Frosted gilt movement, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette engraved Grand Tir de L’Exposition Nationale, Genève 1896. Off-white dial enamel with blue Arabic numerals, outer silver dot minute indexes and gold five-minute indexes and original gold Louis XV hands. Polished case with reeded edges, trefoil pendant, the back decorated with a finely painted on enamel view of Lac Leman in an engraved gold cartouche with the coat of arms of Geneva at the lower edge, blue translucent enamel border. Dial, case, cuvette and movement signed, case and movement numbered.
