A very fine, rare Swiss 18-carat gold hunting cased two train independent dead centre seconds keyless lever pocket watch, circa 1870. Rhodium-plated, Geneva Striping decoration, two-train with tandem winding, 29 jewels, both trains with gold wheels, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Gold-hinged cuvette engraved with the technical details. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary constant seconds and original blued steel Breguet hands. Engine turned case with polished borders, the front with central engraved monogram, interior with engraved dedication, and a polished band with a bolt at 6 o’clock for start/stop of centre seconds. Movement signed on the dial plate.
