A fine English gilt metal pair-cased verge pocket watch with silver topped pillars, circa 1720. Gilt full plate movement, divided Egyptian pillars with fluted silver capitals one missing, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three armed steel balance with flat balance spring, finely pierced and engraved balance-cock and backplate furniture, the cock with small streamers, silver regulation dial. Silver champlevé dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost Arabic five-minute numerals, the center with ornate signature cartouches and original blued steel beetle and poker hands. Gilt metal outer case overlaid with shagreen and with pique decoration, the inner case gilt, deep back, polished, split bezel. Dial and movement signed.
