A fine and rare English silver pair-cased verge pocket watch with calendar and square hinge, circa 1710. Gilt-brass movement, divided vase pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, finely pierced and engraved balance cock with streamers, silver regulation dial. Silver champlevé dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost Arabic five-minute numerals, center with foliate signature cartouches, aperture for the date above 6, and original blued steel beetle and poker hands. Polished outer case, square hinge, the back engraved with a large crest, the inner case polished, split bezel. Dial and movement signed.
