Gold half hunting cased repeater with chain and fob by J.H. Spreat

A very fine and rare English 18 carat gold and enamel half hunting cased half quarter repeating lever pocket watch with a heavy three-strand gold chain and fob with carnelian matrix engraved with a crest, the case with London hallmarks for 1863-1864. Frosted gilt ¾ plate movement, 12 jewels in screwed chatons, fuse and chain, English-type lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, diamond endstone, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Gold hinged cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and blued steel spade hands. Polished case, the front with light blue champlevé enamel Roman numerals and inner minute track, the back cover with a blue, red and white champlevé enamel monogram and crest with the motto Ultra Aspicio. Dial and movement signed.
