Rose gold lever pocket watch

A very fine Swiss 18 carat rose gold open faced minute repeating keyless split second chronograph pocket watch made by Patek Philippe in Geneva, circa 1889. Retailed by George C. Shreve & Co in San Francisco, California. Sold on July 31st, 1890. ¾ Plate movement with 29 jewels, a counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring and an index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band, the chronograph with visible works. The gold hinged cuvette with an engraved monogram. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute and fifths of a second divisions, outermost red Arabic five second numerals, subsidiary seconds and original blued steel spade hands. Polished case with a slide for locking the chronograph at 11 o’clock and a button for the split seconds between 10 and 11. Dial, case and movement signed by the retailer, movement signed by the watchmaker, case numbered. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives.
