Silver repoussé pocket watch by Adonis Dufour

A fine and rare French silver pair cased repoussé verge pocket watch with silver balance cock, circa 1734. Gilt brass full plate movement, fancy pierced and engraved pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, three armed brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved silver cock, blued steel endplate with cabochon red endstone, silver regulation disc. Silver champlevé dial with Roman numerals, outer arcaded minute track and outermost large Arabic five minute numerals, central signature cartouches and replaced Marcasite set Louis XV hands. Outer case back decorated with a repoussé scene of Adonis at a water fountain, his dog and bow at his side, pierced foliate border intersected by two profile busts and two townscapes in cartouches, the bezel decorated to match with cartouches depicting mythical beasts, the inner case polished. Dial and movement signed.
