A very fine and rare Swiss 18-carat gold hunting cased pocket chronometer, circa 1870. Frosted gilt movement, jeweled to the third wheel, pivoted detent chronometer escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with peripheral gold timing screws, blued steel balance spring with terminal curve, index regulator. Gold hinged cuvette with engine-turned border. White enamel dial with bold radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, and original gold spade hands. Engine-turned case with polished borders, spring-loaded front cover with small central engraved monogram. Cuvette signed and numbered.
