Fine and rare English 18 carat gold hunting cased key-wound lever pocket watch, circa 1860-1861. Retailed by J.R. Losada, 105 Regent Street, London. Gilt brass three-quarter plate movement, fusee and chain, jewelled to the third wheel and with screwed chatons, a counterpoised lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, diamond endstone and an index regulator. A hinged gold cuvette with apertures for winding and setting surrounded by foliate engraving. Foliate engraved silver dial with painted Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost applied gold foliate border, the centre with an applied gold basket of flowers, sunk subsidiary seconds with an engine-turned centre at 6 o’clock and blued steel fleur-de-lys hands. The case is entirely engraved with flowers and foliage, with master mark AS, London hallmarked 1860-1861. Dial and movement signed, dial, case and movement numbered.
