Gold watch with spring detent chronometer escapement

A heavy pocket chronometer with a gold key on a chain made by James Murray in London, England, circa 1861. The open faced high quality case is crafted from 18 carat gold, is Hallmarked London 1861 and has an engine turned back lid. The numbered white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock with Arabic numerals and fine steel hands. The movement has a spring detent chronometer escapement in the manner of Earnshaw, a helical hairspring, a diamond end stone, a chronometer balance, trapezoidal weights and platinum screws.
Dial and movement with matching numbers and signed.
