François-Louis Chavannes (1762- 1823) was a Genevan master watchmaker renowned for his simple and complicated watches, including costume watches and repeater watches in three-colour gold decorated with enamel.
Although his main activity was in Geneva, some of his designs were exported or influenced by watchmaking styles from other regions, including Vienna as our example. The name of François-Louis Chavannes (1762-1823) is mentioned in the Dictionary of Viennese Watchmakers.

Signed: F.L. Chavanne Wienn
