Gold, enamel and diamond-set guitar-form watch

A fine Austrian 18K gold, enamel and diamond set guitar-form watch with a concealed dial, circa 1810. A guitar shaped case, the body overlaid with translucent red enamel over a chased ground, rose cut diamond set string board, gold strings and tuning keys, the spring loaded hinged back is decorated with an en grisaille painted on enamel scene of an elderly gentleman and an hourglass representing the passing of time.

White dial enamel with Breguet numerals, outer minute track, winding aperture at 2 o’clock and blued steel Breguet hands. A frosted gilt full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, brass three arm balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock, silver regulation dial.
