A rare Belgian verge pocket watch with date and silver champlevé dial, circa 1680.
Two cases: a silver outer case with large lateral hinge and a silver polished inner case. Silver champlevé dial with radial Roman hours, date window at “6” and Louis XV hands. Signed, richly engraved, firegilt full plate movement, keywind, with applied engraved ornaments, chain/fusee, Egyptian movement pillars, ring balance with “mock pendulum” and a balance cock with very finely engraved griffon and cherub face.
