Silver verge watch in double-case by Ringler
–
A unique, large silver Belgian pocket watch, probably a present watch of the Belgian royal family, circa 1730.
The double-case is silver: the inner case with an engraved monogram with a crown, and the outer case plain. Signed verge movement with unique pillars in the form of the Brabant Lions, symbols of the Belgian national coat of arms, extremely beautiful plate decoration, and early movement with pre-tensioning via worm screw. White enamel dial with bold Roman hours, Arabic minutes, and presumably original decorative gilt hands.

Diameter: 57 mm

Weight: 150 g

Ringler was registered in Antwerp from around 1715. The decoration of the case and the unique pillars indicate that this clock may have been made as a present clock on behalf of the Belgian royal family. Another double-case spindle watch from Ringler is in the British Museum.
