A fine English 18 carat gold hunting cased keywound pocket chronometer, circa 1882. Gilt finished half plate fusée and chain movement, spring detent escapment, freesprung bimetallic compensation balance, helical hairspring, diamond end stone. Tinted white enamel dial with Roman numerals, fan form up and down indication below the 12 o’clock and subsidiary seconds. Engine turned case. Case, dial and movement signed, case and cuvette stamped with maker’s mark HMF for Harrison Mill Frodsham and London date letter for 1882, bow stamped ‘AS’. Accompanied by brass bound mahogany deck box.
