A French gold and enamel hunting cased watch with side button hand setting and patented cover winding, circa 1870. Mechanical lever movement, 15 jewels. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, blued steel moon style hands and subsidiary seconds. Cuvette engraved Medaille d’Argente Paris 1867 Système Remontoire et mise à l’heure Breveté. Engine turned case, the front cover with royal blue enamel initials EC, the back with enamel coat-of-arms depicting a black eagle looking up at the sun on royal blue enamel background, topped by a polychrome enamel crown, special patented hand setting button at four o’clock, which can be locked by a lever, patented cover winding, hinged back. Case numbered, cuvette signed and numbered, movement signed.
