A fine, rare and unusual Swiss 18 carat gold open faced keyless lever watch with diamond bordered enamel portrait of King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy, circa 1872. Retailed by A. Barbero & Co, Rome. Gilt finished lever movement, 10 jewels, bimetallic compensation balance, wolf’s tooth winding. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals. Small case, the back centred by applied and raised enamel portrait of King Victor Emmanuel II, diamond set border. Case signed and numbered by watchmaker, cuvette signed by watchmaker and retailer and numbered.
