A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased key wound pocket chronometer with tourbillon, circa 1870. Made for J.E. Caldwell & Co. Nickel finished key wound movement, pivoted detent escapement, three armed one-minute Guinand Type 2 tourbillon carriage with bimetallic compensation balance with gold poising screws, decorative curved bridges forming the initials EG for Ernest Guinand. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, blued steel moon style hands and subsidiary seconds. Plain case, ribbed band. Case, cuvette and dial signed.
