Gold and platinum open faced dress watch by Verger Frères

A fine, rare and unusual French 18 carat gold and platinum open faced bras en l’air keyless lever dress watch, circa 1930. Retailed by Grogan Co. Mechanical movement stamped twice with the Geneva seal, 18 jewels. Silvered dial with two arched sectors calibrated for the retrograde hours and minutes, an applied gold and black enamel seated Buddha raising his arms to indicate the time when a button in the band is depressed. Case with coin edged band, platinum rims to bezel and snap on back, gold pendant and platinum bow. Case signed by watchmaker and numbered, dial signed by retailer.
