A fine and early English 18 carat gold pair cased quarter repeating repoussé verge watch, circa 1720. Gilt finished full plate verge movement, chain fusée, pierced and engraved balance cock, diamond set endstone, rounded pilasters, quarter repeating activated through the pendant, striking a bell in the case, metal dust cover. White enamel dial with Roman numerals. Polished, pierced and engraved inner case with central floret, repoussé outer case, central scene depicting two Roman soldiers with two female figures at a table within a classic architectural landscape, outer rim with floral and leaf swag, engraved and pierced bezel. Movement signed.
