A charming 18 carat yellow gold minute repeating keyless pocket watch, circa 1880. “The Cherub Musicians” automaton pocket watch. The case is engraved with stylized foliage, a Hinged gold cuvette, over a glazed gold bezel to view the movement. Outer silver reserve dial with applied black Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds dial and blued steel Breguet hands. Inner silver dial plate applied with gold automaton figures: cherub on the right and left, striking hours, quarters and minutes on gongs. Rhodium-plated, brushed movement, 28 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed and numbered.
