Gold hunting cased lever watch by Jules Jürgensen
–
A Danish gold hunting cased keyless lever watch with patented hand setting, circa 1885. The damascened nickel movement signed Jules Jürgensen of Copenhagen, features a wolf’s tooth winding, lever escapement, large bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel over coil hairspring, and a central bridge calibrated with a broad regulation arc. The white enamel dial, also signed Jules Jürgensen of Copenhagen, showcases Roman numerals, an outer minute ring, large subsidiary seconds, and blued steel moon hands. Encased in an 18 carat gold case with engine turned covers, it includes a Jürgensen type bow that incorporates a patented hand setting mechanism and a polished gold cuvette with an engine turned border. All covers and the cuvette are signed and numbered, with the back cover additionally numbered and the cuvette further engraved with Patent 1867 January 15.

Movement is running. The plates and bridges show signs of tarnishing, with some minor oxidation evident. The hand setting mechanism operates smoothly. The dial remains in good condition. The case exhibits slight rubbing and a loss of definition along the edges of the engine turned decoration, but it is otherwise in good overall condition. The covers close securely.

Signed: Jules Jürgensen Copenhagen
