Silver Dutch verge pocket watch

A Dutch silver quarter repeating verge watch, circa 1760. Full plate fire gilt movement with round pillars, gilt dust cover signed Jan Henkels Amsterdam. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel set-up between the plates. Pierced and engraved bridge cock, pierced and engraved plate around the silver regulator disc. Plain steel balance, blue steel hairspring. Quarter repeating on a bell.
White enamel dial with black Roman, and Arabic numerals, steel beetle and poker hands.
Case pierced and engraved with foliage. Winding through the back.

Jan Henkels worked in Amsterdam around 1750 and is mentioned in guild books from 1742 to 1778.
He initially had his workshop in the Vijzelstraat and later on the Singel in Amsterdam. He appears in the register of watchmakers of Amsterdam from 1742 till 1767.
Jan Henkels moved his business from the Leidsegracht to the Heiligeweg on April 22, 1762. In 1776 he lived on the Koningsplein in Amsterdam.
