Pocket watch with very early verge escapement

An early pocket watch, made by John Shaw ‘Famous Master’ in the district of Holborn(e) in London, England, circa 1672-1715. The plain open faced pair case of this watch was crafted from silver and carries its maker’s mark LW. The silver champlevé dial has Arabic numerals for the minutes and Roman numerals for the hours and gilt hands. The very early English movement has a verge escapement and tulip pillars.
