This watch bears the signature ‘Brown London’, but probably it is a falsifying indication. In the 18th century, English clocks were among the most sought after of their time. For this reason, it was common among watchmakers to provide the popular instruments with an English signature. A closer look at the work shows it can only be about a watch of a Dutch master. Looking at simultaneously created watches by Paulus Bramer or Cornelius Uyterweer, the typical, charmingly playful movement pillars, the double sided screw connection of the spindle bridge and also the engravings at the bottom edge of the plate are shown. Another feature is the typical Dutch dial and the curved minute hand.
