A beautiful, rare Swiss silver Art Nouveau pocket watch with alarm clock, circa 1900. Gilt bridge, patented alarm, gold compensation balance, the alarm mechanism with strike on gong is registered on September 5, 1889 as Swiss Patent No. 20033 and extremely rare in pocket watches. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and finely crafted brass hands, signed. Case maker’s mark ‘H’ for ‘Holy Freres’, St.-Imier, Switzerland, registered on 3.11.1908.

The company of Parrenin & Faivre was registered in 1901. It was a collaboration of the two watchmakers Charles-Louis Faivre and Hippolyte Parrenin. Hippolyte Parrenin was born on August 10, 1851 in Le Russey, France. He first worked for the raw material factory Dupommier, in 1873 he founded the raw materials factory Parrenin in Villers-le-Lac. On April 10, 1875, he married Clara Marguier in Villers-le-Lac. From this marriage, the children Paul, Berthe, Anna, Jeanne, Félicien, Claire and Alice emerged, he died on September 7, 1915 in Villers-le-Lac
