–
A technically interesting and heavy pocket watch with Massey escapement and stoppable seconds made by H. Mortimer in Liverpool, England, circa 1810. The numbered, typical Liverpool case of this watch is open faced and was crafted from 18 carat gold, it has an engine turned back, relief bezels, pendant and bow, and maker’s mark L.M. The enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel hands. The numbered Massey movement has a lever escapement and original dust cover.
Case and movement have matching numbers, the movement is signed.
