A fine English 18 carat yellow gold open faced key wind pocket watch, circa 1800-1830. This watch features a key wound mechanical movement with a verge escapement, the movement tilting for winding access from the dial side, a characteristic feature of English watchmaking of the period. The dial is richly decorated, centred with a chevron guilloché pattern and applied Roman numerals on a circular guilloché surround, complemented by dot minute indexes. The applied hour markers are set within an elaborate three tone gold chased floral surround. The hands are of the Breguet style. The 18 carat gold case features a bezel finely chased with rinceaux and floral motifs.
