Charles Edward Viner (1788–1875) was an eminent English watch and clock maker, apprenticed to Thomas Savage in 1802. Free of the Clockmakers’ Company in 1813 and a Liveryman from 1819, Viner worked from prestigious London addresses including 233 Regent Street, 151 New Bond Street, and the Royal Exchange. He was known for technical innovations like the pump winding system. His firm produced a wide range of high quality timepieces, from sophisticated pocket watches with complications to fine carriage clocks. His work is often represented in major collections, including the Science Museum in London.
