A very fine and rare French, diamond and pearl-set 22K gold and enamel quarter repeating à toc pocket watch with the original gilt brass protective, circa 1780. The case with translucent royal blue enamel over a guilloché ground with applied diamond set silver monogram CMH, pearl set bezels. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic 15 minutes. Gold beetle and poker hands. A hinged gilt brass full-plate movement, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass pierced and engraved continental cock, repetition via a hammer on the case. Movement signed.
