Chronometer with Kullberg’s auxiliary compensation balance

A very fine ship’s chronometer with 56-hour power reserve indication, an early version of Kullberg’s auxiliary compensation balance, and mahogany transport box, circa 1893. Sold to ships supplier J & T Barclay, 10 Jamaica Terrace, West India Dock Road, London.
The case is made of mahogany with brass inlays, applied bone signature shield J & T Barclay, 10 Jamaica Terrace, West India Dock Road, London, screwed on handles with lid and glass, case key, brass gimbals and bowl, and a three-body. The silvered dial has auxiliary seconds, sunk Roman numerals, and gold spade hands. And signed: Victor Kullberg, 105 Liverpool Rd. London, Maker to the Admiralty, the Indian & Italian Governments. And the movement is a polished, decorated brass movement with moulded pillars, chain/fusee, spring detent escapement, blued screws, Kullberg-chronometer balance with two weights and six screws, free-sprung helical balance spring, and chatoned diamond endstone on balance.
