Early clockwatch in underpainted horn pair cases

An English rack striking clockwatch in gilt metal and underpainted horn pair cases, circa 1720. Full plate fire gilt movement with five turned baluster pillars. Fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel set up between the plates. Pierced and engraved winged cock with mask, the winding square at the edge of the table. Pierced and engraved plate for the silver regulator disc. Plain gilt balance. Rack hour striking on a bell, large engraved resting barrel for the strike train. Later white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, blue steel beetle and poker hands. Purpose made gilt and tortoiseshell pair cases. Plain gilt metal inner with steel strike and silent lever, original bell for the movement. Deep gilt outer case covered in underpainted horn. A scene depicting a fisherman on the bank of a river, a church in the background.
