An English pair cased verge pocket watch with repoussé decoration Minerva shielding Telemachus from the Arrow of Cupid, circa 1780.
Two cases: an 18 carat gold outer case with repoussé decoration: Minerva shielding the sleeping Telemachus from the arrow of Cupid and the wiles of Venus, and a large lateral hinge; and an 18-carat gold polished inner case with case maker’s punch mark crowned I.*R. Enamel dial with radial Roman hours and Poker & Beetle hands. Signed full plate movement, keywind, applied floral decorations, fire gilt, chain/fusee, fluted pillars with foliate scrolls, three-arm brass balance, and an engraved and pierced silver balance bridge with flower and shell decoration.
